GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in our scholarship program. Please read the following guidelines and eligibility requirements carefully. All areas must be completed to be considered for the scholarship.

  1. Applicant must be a High School Senior who will be attending an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student.

  2. Applicant must be a member of St Christopher’s Episcopal Church or a senior at John I. Leonard High School.

  3. A 250-word typed and double spaced essay answering one of the following questions must accompany the application:

    • What traits do you have that will enhance your education and future employment?

    • Describe the solution you would propose to improve or resolve a current issue, such as the cost of college education, violence or discrimination.

    • Which person (past or present) inspired you to be the person you are today?

    • Do you consider yourself a leader? Provide an example of when you were a leader and what led you to take that role?

  4. Include a list of all the colleges to which you have applied. Specify which colleges/universities have accepted you. If scholarship is awarded, you will need to supply proof of registration.

  5. Attach a description of your community service experience. Minimum of 100 hours are needed to apply.

  6. Two written references from non-relatives must accompany your application.

  • The Letters of Recommendation must be provided on organization letterhead and

  • Recommendations by individual should have the following:

    • Name

    • Occupation Title (Profession)

    • Complete Address and Phone Number

    • Letter must be signed

7. Include a copy of your official High School transcript. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is needed to apply.

8.Include a copy of your SAT and/or ACT scores.

9.The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.
